When Texas A&M was searching for a new athletic director after the departure of Scott Woodward to LSU, it was imperative to get a person who had, or could cultivate, a good working relationship with Texas A&M football head coach Jimbo Fisher. Part of what attracted Fisher to the job in the first place was his previous relationship with Woodward when the pair were at LSU.
However, that wasn’t the only reason Fisher took the job. He also saw how much support the football program gets (read: money), the first class facilities and the rabid fan base.
