This program is at a crossroads: Down one path for Texas A&M football is contending for conference and national championships every year, the other stuck in the same annoying good but not great limbo that is all too familiar to any Aggie being honest with themselves. Jimbo Fisher was brought in for one reason and one reason only: to bring a National Championship to Aggieland.
This is why getting an athletic director who would have a good working relationship with Fisher was imperative, and also why, albeit behind the scenes, Fisher had a say in who the next person for the job would be after Scott Woodward bolted for LSU.
