When Texas A&M football lost both Otaro Alaka and Tyrel Dodson, upperclassmen leaders at linebacker who were excellent at the position, there was some concern about depth at the position moving forward. After the infamous transfer of Santino Marchiol, injuries to Anthony Hines III and Ikenna Okeke, there are few linebackers who have either experience or high potential and aren’t coming off injury.
In fact, Buddy Johnson is really the only linebacker returning with significant experience, backup or starter.
If the reports after the first couple practices are true, Hines and Okeke are expected to make full recoveries and be ready for this season, but it’s hardly a sure thing.
