A bizarre offseason for Texas A&M football took an unfortunate turn. Just two weeks before National Signing Day it was announced Jerry Montgomery, the Aggies’ newly hired defensive line coach, would be returning to the Green Bay Packers. Montgomery had recently joined Jimbo Fisher’s staff in College Station from Green Bay. He had spent the last several weeks on the recruiting trail.
There is not way to sugar coat this. The loss of Montgomery with National Signing Day so close is a bad look for Texas A&M. Fisher had only recently completed his staff with the addition of defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist.
