COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M pitching Tyler Stubblefield said he appreciated California testing out his rehabbed knee early and often with bunts on Sunday.

“They tried to test me,” a smiling Stubblefield said Wednesday after the Aggies’ practice. “But in rehab I fielded bunts. Whatever (Cal) wanted to give to me … Thanks for the free outs – I’ll take the bunts.”

The Aggies, who face TCU in an NCAA tournament super regional starting Saturday, won three straight games in their own regional to advance, thanks in part to Stubblefield’s recent return from a torn ACL in his left knee.
