Texas A&M basketball: 2019 class is relief for awful season ahead

If you scripted the worst possible start for Texas A&M basketball, it wouldn’t be far off from the current reality. While they wound up with a 15-point win, they played sloppy basketball against Savannah State in their opener. They went on to blow a 14-point second half lead to UC Irvine, then proceeded to get run off the court by No. 3 Gonzaga.

Even the most optimistic fan can see the Aggies are in for a long season. Yes, they have missed Admon Gilder and Wendell Mitchell, guards who are arguably the team’s best two shooters on a team that’s trying to shoot more threes and push the pace, but it’s hard to believe they will make that much difference to the product we’re seeing on the court.
