Texas A&M back-up QB Nick Starkel expected to be on roster for spring practice, per Jimbo Fisher

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Cross one key name off the list of potential January transfers.

Texas A&M sophomore quarterback Nick Starkel is expected to be in College Station this spring, coach Jimbo Fisher said on Wednesday. Following A&M's first practice in Florida for the upcoming Gator Bowl against N.C. State, Fisher said the Aggies' No. 2 quarterback should be on the roster for at least a few more months.

"We've had a few (conversation), and I anticipate him being back at spring practice," Fisher said.

The redshirt sophomore from Argyle Liberty Christian finished 2017 as the starter and threw for 499 yards in A&M's Belk Bowl loss to Wake Forest, the second-highest single-game total in school history.
