When Texas A&M lost its athletic director to LSU, there were no doubt reasons to panic. Most of those centered around the fact that Scott Woodward had progressed the money-making programs (football, basketball) to rarely-seen heights by hiring a big name for each.
It was especially shocking for Woodward to leave given he had just recently fired Billy Kennedy and brought in Buzz Williams as head coach of the Texas A&M basketball team. He had also brought in Jimbo Fisher as head coach of Texas A&M football only 18 months prior. Why wouldn’t he want to see these hires through?
