Last season, Billy Kennedy said the Aggies would be a lock for this year's NCAA tournament. This season, while in the midst of an SEC tournament run as the No. 1 seed, Texas A&M announced it would be locking up their head coach for the next half decade.
According to a release from the university, Texas A&M has "reached an agreement in principle with Head Men's Basketball Coach Billy Kennedy on a new five-year contract, Director of Athletics Scott Woodward announced today at the SEC Men's Basketball Tournament. Terms of the contract are pending approval by the Texas A&M University System Board of Regents at a future meeting.
