Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh caused a stir on Twitter on Wednesday when he tweeted a response to SEC commissioner Greg Sankey’s comments in regard to his team potentially holding spring practices at the IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla.
Sankey wasn’t amused. “I’m not going to reduce what is an important conversation to some childhood use of Twitter,” Sankey told AL.com. “This is an important issue.”
Sankey voiced his concern that the practices would go against rules set out by the NCAA to give FBS players four weeks of “free time” during the calendar year; Michigan’s plan was to have a week of practice during its spring break, and spring break is supposed to be part of the NCAA-mandated free time.
