So, which position leads the way within the SEC? It’s running back and, somewhat surprisingly, wide receiver, with nine each. We say “somewhat surprisingly” with wide receiver because just one SEC receiver in the draft (Ole Miss’ Laquon Treadwell) had a 1,000-yard season in 2015, and he’s also the only SEC receiver in the draft who had more than 66 receptions. In addition, some of the SEC wide receivers invited to the NFL combine are surprising.
Here is a look at the positional breakdown of SEC players at the NFL combine.
RUNNING BACK (9)
Peyton Barber, Auburn
Tra Carson, Texas A&M
Alex Collins, Arkansas
Kenyan Drake, Alabama
Derrick Henry, Alabama
Keith Marshall, Georgia
Kelvin Taylor, Florida
Brandon Wilds, South Carolina
Jonathan Williams, Arkansas
Surprising omission: None.
