SEC Goes 4-1 in March Madness First Round Action at 2017 NCAA Tournament

If you take away an unexplainable Matthew Fisher-Davis foul, the SEC could very well have started a perfect 5-0 in the First Round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament. Even with that stumble, the conference still held serve on their seed lines. In every game the SEC has played so far the higher seed has won:

  • 9 Seed Vanderbilt fell to 8 Seed Northwestern 68-66
  • 8 Seed Arkansas beat 9 Seed Seton Hall 77-71
  • 7 Seed South Carolina beat 10 Seed Marquette 93-73
  • 4 Seed Florida beat East Tennessee State 80-65
  • 2 Seed Kentucky beat 15 Seed Northern Kentucky 79-70

Outside of Kentucky, Basketball isn’t exactly known to be the forte of the schools in the Southeastern Conference.
