Multiple reports say Texas A&M coach Kevin Sumlin has filled his secondary coach opening by hiring veteran assistant Ron Cooper.
The Aggies are replacing Terry Joseph, who left to take the same position at North Carolina. The position at UNC came open when Charlton Warren left to become Tennessee’s secondary coach.
Cooper — who turns 55 on February 11 — has been in coaching since 1983, and is a former FBS head coach at Eastern Michigan (1993-94) and Louisville (1995-97). He also is a former secondary coach at LSU (2009-11), where he coached Patrick Peterson, Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne.
