Report: Texas A&M defensive coordinator Mike Elko will return for second season in College Station

Texas A&M will reportedly be keeping its defensive coordinator.

Mike Elko is coming back to College Station for his second season, Yahoo! reported this morning. The news comes two days after Elko was reported as a top target for the coaching vacancy at Temple.

After one season at Notre Dame, Elko joined Jimbo Fisher's coaching staff at A&M. Elko signed a three-year deal that starts with a base salary of $1.8 million, which made him one of the highest-paid assistants in the country.

In 2018, the Aggies were second in the nation in rushing defense and allowed 22.
