University of Washington athletic director Scott Woodward has accepted the same position at Texas A&M, according to The Seattle Times and other media reports.
Hired by Mark Emmert, who is now NCAA president, Woodward is leaving the post he has occupied since January 2008.
Woodward, who is a Louisiana native and LSU graduate, will return to his roots in the SEC. Texas A&M joined the conference for the beginning of the 2012-13 academic year.
Among the highlights of Woodward's eight-year tenure are hirings of football coaches Steve Sarkisian and Chris Petersen -- when Sarkisian took the USC job in December 2013.
