Running back Rakeem Boyd transferred away from Texas A&M and signed a letter of intent with Independence Community College, Taylor Hamm of 247Sports reported.
The redshirt freshman is taking the JUCO route after academic issues consumed him, according to Hamm. A year of good grades could enable Boyd to return to Aggieland, though.
But even then, the move puts a dent in A&M's stable of running backs. Keith Ford and Trayveon Williams should carry almost all of the workload this fall, making Kendall Bussey the No. 3 guy.
While Bussey and Williams have one less year of eligibility than Boyd, Ford is entering his senior year.
