Former Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel has signed a player agreement with the Alliance of American football, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Manziel spent the 2018 season in the CFL with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Montreal Alouettes, where he appeared in eight games, throwing for five touchdowns and seven interceptions. Manziel was released by the CFL on Feb. 27, citing Manziel had "contravened the agreement which made him eligible to play in the league."
The 2012 Heisman Trophy winner will go through the AAF waiver system, per Schefter, after the San Antonio Commanders renounced his college allocation rights.
