RIO DE JANEIRO -- Jennifer Madu of Plano East and Texas A&M only found out she would be running the 100 meters for Nigeria last Saturday.
"I was physically prepared," she said, tapping her temple, "but not all the way mentally."
Whether it was a factor or not, she finished fifth in her heat Friday at Olympic Stadium with a time of 11.61, failing to advance.
Even so, she's having a great time in Rio. "I've eaten really good food," she said, almost as if she were gloating.
And she still gets to run in the 4x100 meter relay.
