COLLEGE STATION -- Texas A&M's Kellen Mond can empathize with a few of his fellow quarterbacks in the SEC.
After the San Antonio native made eight straight starts as a true freshman, he was replaced as the team's starter toward the end of the 2017 season. When the No. 16 Aggies (5-2, 3-1 SEC) started preseason workouts in August, Mond had to show new coach Jimbo Fisher why he should be the team's starter.
Two months later, Mond has some of the best job security in the conference while other established veterans are trying to quiet restless fan bases.
