A look at the number of people who actually came to Texas A&M men's basketball games last season shows why the administration made a coaching change.
An average of 4,686 tickets were scanned for the Aggies' nine SEC games at Reed Arena, according to information obtained through an open records request. That number is much less than the average paid attendance of 7,324 for conference contests last season.
A&M went 14-18 overall and was 6-12 in SEC play, which resulted in Billy Kennedy's dismissal after eight seasons as the team's coach. The number of scanned tickets shows not many folks came out to watch the end of Kennedy's tenure.
