COLLEGE STATION – With two games remaining in the regular season, Texas A&M’s quarterback battle is ongoing.
“We’ll evaluate where we are in practice,” A&M coach Kevin Sumlin said Tuesday when asked if freshman Kyler Murray or sophomore Kyle Allen will start on Saturday at Vanderbilt. “We’ve had some good moments, some not so good moments (with both). We’re looking for consistency out of the position, and that’s what this week of practice will be about.
“We’ll name a starter as we get closer to game time.”
Murray threw three touchdown passes on Saturday against FCS foe Western Carolina, but he also threw two interceptions (including one on a Hail Mary to close out the first half) and Catamounts defenders dropped at least three more potential picks over three quarters.
