COLLEGE STATION – Texas A&M clocks its players’ speeds during games, and coach Kevin Sumlin marvels at the results.
“Anybody who’s seen that Adidas commercial when they say, ‘23, 24 miles per hour …’ We’ve got guys up in the 22-mph range,” Sumlin told host Dave South on Tuesday night on Sumlin’s radio show. “That means they’d get a ticket in a school zone. Alex Sezer and some of those guys are running 22 miles per hour.”
Sezer is a backup defensive back and special teams speedster. But Sumlin saved his most praise for sophomore defensive end Myles Garrett, one of 20 semifinalists for the Bednarik Award, presented annually to the nation’s top defensive player.
