Johnny Manziel nearing CFL deal with Hamilton Tiger-Cats

Johnny Manziel has been formally offered a contract to play professional football by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL. This comes after Manziel has undergone a lengthy assessment in regards to his off-field issues. That assessment ended with an interview with CFL commissioner Randy Ambroise.

Manziel passed the assessment and has no barriers remaining between him and a return to the field, save one. He has yet to sign on the dotted line. On Sunday, Jan.7 Manziel received a contract from the Tiger-Cats, the CFL team that controls his negotiating rights. Assuming he signs, Manziel should be on the field when the Tiger-Cats kick off their season on Saturday, June 16.
