The highly-anticipated return on 'Johnny Football' got off to an inauspicious start in Montreal.
Johnny Manziel, 25, made his return to professional football Friday night as the starting quarterback for the Montreal Allouetes. It was his first appearance in a regular season games since the Cleveland Browns cut him in March 2016 following two seasons marked by inconsistent performances and off-the-field problems.
His Canadian debut, however, did not get off to the start he would have hoped for.
Against his former team, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, Manziel threw four interceptions. While there were flashes of the Manziel magic football fans remember, Hamilton overwhelmed Montreal in the early going, and building a 35-3 second quarter lead.
