COLLEGE STATION -- Before a maroon-winged Gulfstream jet opened its door on Sunday afternoon, something was off.
On a private airstrip at Easterwood Airport, someone noticed the long, maroon carpet with a Texas A&M logo didn't exactly line up with the foot of the jet's staircase. The carpet shifted a few inches to the left.
For this moment, everything had to be perfect.
A few minutes later, Jimbo Fisher descended from the plane as the A&M band played its fight song. The man tasked with leading the Aggies to the Promised Land had officially arrived.
Lee Crews, an A&M booster and '89 alumnus, was one of several fans who greeted the new coach.
