FORT WORTH -- Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher remains optimistic about running back Vernon Jackson after he suffered a potentially catastrophic injury this spring.
During his trip to the Fort Worth A&M Club on Monday, Fisher said the sophomore's neck injury involves a cracked vertebra. Fisher said Jackson played well during the Aggies' spring practice before the incident.
Fisher told the crowd that while the prognosis is still unclear, he's hopeful Jackson can return to playing football.
"I think it will heal," Fisher told those gathered at Billy Bob's Texas. "We'll have to wait some time to see.
