Texas A&M coach Jimbo Fisher has completed his staff with the hiring of secondary coach Maurice Linguist, who had held the same position at Minnesota.
He was promoted to assistant head coach last month by Gophers coach P.J. Fleck, which would’ve meant a raise.
Linguist, 33, was safeties coach at Mississippi State in 2016. He is a Texas native and played at Baylor; he also has coached at Valdosta State, James Madison, Buffalo and Iowa State.
The rest of Fisher’s first staff at Texas A&M:
Tim Brewster, tight ends
Dameyune Craig, wide receivers
Darrell Dickey, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks
Mike Elko, defensive coordinator
Jay Graham, running backs
Jerry Montgomery, defensive tackles
Bradley Dale Peveto, linebackers
Terry Price, defensive ends
Jim Turner, offensive line
Brewster and Graham came with Fisher from FSU; Craig did, as well, though he was an analyst and not an on-field coach last season.
