Less than a year ago, Jeff Banks was the top football coach on Texas A&M’s sideline.
When the Aggies fired Kevin Sumlin after six seasons, Banks took over as the interim head coach for A&M’s bowl game against Wake Forest.
But a few weeks later, Alabama was in the market for a coach with Banks’ skill set. That opening -- and his eventual hire -- ended up making him one of the most intriguing people involved in this Saturday’s game between No. 22 A&M and the top-ranked Crimson Tide.
Last month, the A&M system’s board of regents voted 8-0 to proceed with litigation against its former recruiting coordinator and special teams coach for an alleged breach of contract.
