Texas A&M quarterback Kellen Mond struggled to pinpoint the exact reason why he lacked confidence at times last season.
After Texas A&M's spring game in April, the sophomore from San Antonio said he believed he had the ability to play well. But for whatever reason -- perhaps a lack of preparation or something otherwise -- Mond still felt some uneasiness as a true freshman.
That changed once A&M hired Jimbo Fisher as the team's new coach.
Following the team's intrasquad scrimmage a few months ago, Mond said he felt more confident under Fisher. The renewed trust in himself could play a big factor this preseason, where he and sophomore Nick Starkel enter the year as the top quarterbacks on the depth chart.
