The forthcoming end of an era was signaled today when Aggie Women’s Basketball Coach Gary Blair announced that he will be retiring at the end of the upcoming season. Blair took the reins of the Texas A&M women’s program in 2003 and elevated the team to national prominence over the course of the last 18 years. During his time in College Station, he led the Aggies to the 2011 national championship, has won three conference titles (two Big XII, one SEC) and has made the NCAA tournament every year since the 2005-2006 season.
Blair’s coaching career spans five decades, beginning as the head coach of South Oak Cliff High School in 1973 where he won three state titles.
