The true meaning of the bowl selection season really depends on perspective and level of expectations.
Take Kansas State, for example. The Wildcats were pegged by the media to finish eighth in the 10-team Big 12 Conference. After struggling early, Kansas State won five of its last six games to finish with an 8-4 record.
Then look at Texas A&M. The Aggies were once in line for a College Football Playoff berth before they finished the year losing four of their final six games. They are also 8-4.
The teams will face each other with the chance to pick up that ninth win.
