COLLEGE STATION – Opening a nearly half-billion dollar rebuilt stadium apparently requires a party. Spread over three days.
Texas A&M has announced a celebration of the grand reopening of Kyle Field, with multiple activities spread around the first Aggies home football game on Sept. 12 (a Saturday night).
That Friday, Sept. 11, the goings-on begin at 2:30 p.m. with a rededication of the relocated statue of John David Crow. The 1957 Heisman Trophy winner died this summer at the age of 79.
The statue is being moved from in front of the Bright Football Complex to in front of the new west side stands, where, as A&M says in a statement, “It can be readily viewed by more fans and other campus visitors.
