Former Texas A&M head athletic trainer claims he returned injured players to field before they were ready

Real Sports with Bryant Gumble kicks off a new season tonight on HBO, and will cover the subject of medical care and medical decisions in college athletics.

The program is billed as "a revealing look at the conflicts of interest among coaches, doctors and trainers, calling into question the thoroughness of care that student-athletes receive and highlighting the pressure on medical professionals to keep players on the field at any cost."

Among those interviewed will be former Texas A&M head athletic trainer Karl Kapchinski. A 1979 A&M graduate, Kapchinski worked for the university for 31 years before being terminated by now former athletic director Eric Hyman.
