COLLEGE STATION – Former Blinn College standout quarterback Jake Hubenak has verbally pledged to play for Texas A&M, which should provide the Aggies plenty of quality depth at the position this season.
Hubenak announced his intention to play for coach Kevin Sumlin on Saturday on Twitter, and he should be ready to go this summer. Sophomore Kyle Allen enters the summer as the starter, and incoming freshman Kyler Murray, a three-time state champion at Allen High, has said he wants no part of the Major League Baseball draft that starts on June 8.
Some had projected Murray as a first-round draft pick in baseball, but he intends to start classes at A&M on June 2, with the idea of taking on Allen for the starting gig.
