DESTIN, Fla. -- When Texas A&M hired Jimbo Fisher to a decade-long contract, they expected him to build a program that could contend for championships.
It wasn't going to happen immediately, especially with A&M still in a rebuilding phase that started in 2017 under former coach Kevin Sumlin. And even though Fisher is entering his second year on the job, A&M might have to wait a little longer.
During a meeting with reporters at the Hilton Sandestin Resort on Wednesday, Fisher acknowledged the Aggies will have one of the toughest schedules in the country this fall. And at a place where expectations for previous teams have been defined, Fisher explained why 2019 will be incredibly important for A&M's future.
