Former Texas A&M linebacker Antonio Armstrong and his wife, Dawn, were fatally shot Friday in their Houston home, the school confirmed.
A 16-year-old boy has been charged as a juvenile with murder in the killings.
According to police, officers discovered a wounded Antonio and Dawn Armstrong at approximately 2 a.m. Friday. Dawn Armstrong was pronounced dead at the scene, and Antonio Armstrong died hours later with a gunshot wound to the head at Memorial Hermann Hospital.
Armstrong, 42, a Houston native, played four seasons at Texas A&M from 1991-94. He was a two-time All-Southwest Conference selection, a first team All-American (1994) and a Butkus Award semifinalist (1994) during his Aggies career.
