Texas A&M staved off elimination for the second time in three days, and keeps their title hopes alive after 5-1 victory over Notre Dame, sending Notre Dame packing. Much of the credit for the win goes to starting pitcher Nathan Dettmer, who after failing to get out of the second inning in Friday’s loss to Oklahoma, pitched seven shutout innings to prolong A&M’s fantastic season.
Offensively, the Aggies took advantage of some Notre Dame miscues in the second, including two walks, a balk, a “hit” that should have been an easy flyout, and a throwing error to score three runs in the top of the third.
