Scott Woodward lingered near a black curtain at the back of a packed room inside Reed Arena.
If Woodward looked exhausted two weeks ago, he had a good reason. The Texas A&M athletic director was fresh off hiring new men’s basketball coach Buzz Williams, the latest in major coups for the Louisiana native.
While Williams conducted his introductory press conference, Woodward stood behind the rows of filled seats, enjoying the fruits of his labor.
That scene aptly sums up Woodward’s time at A&M, which appears to be over. According to multiple reports, Woodward is set to leave College Station to become LSU’s next athletic director, a position that officially opened (and unofficially closed) on Wednesday.
