Texas A&M and Texas have never been on the best of terms. Their rivalry, however, was made more bitter by the Aggies’ exit of the Big 12 to the SEC according to A&M’s former president.
Former Texas A&M president and Missouri chancellor R. Bowen Loftin said in an interview with the Dallas Morning News that former Texas athletic director DeLoss Dodds “really wanted to punish A&M.”
Loftin, who led Texas A&M during its move from the Big 12 to the SEC, said that A&M has reaped benefits beyond the well-documented financial rewards of changing conferences.
