Christensen doubled as the Aggies’ run game coordinator, and insiders say not every offensive staff member’s ideas about the running game meshed. A&M struggled to run consistently and allowed 45 sacks, second-most in the league. Overall, A&M averaged 169.1 rushing yards per game, but the Aggies had just 13 rushing TDs. In SEC play only, the average dropped to 133.1 yards per game, with just five TDs. Take out a 321-yard, three-TD performance against South Carolina, and the Aggies averaged just 107.7 rushing yards with only two TDs in their other seven league games.
Christensen, 55, had spent the 2014 season as Utah’s coordinator, which followed a five-season stint as Wyoming’s head coach.
