One day after giving coach Kevin Sumlin a resounding vote of confidence, Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman stepped down Thursday.
Hyman, 65, arrived at A&M in 2012 after five years as South Carolina’s AD. He also has been AD at TCU, Miami (Ohio) and VMI.
When he was hired at A&M, there were hopes he would bring stability during A&M’s transition to the SEC. Instead, while the Aggies experienced success in their initial football season in the league, there have been some chaotic moments, especially as of late.
As for what this means for the football team, fans could look at it a number of ways, which includes the possibility that the higher-ups at A&M are willing to make whatever changes they feel are necessary to be successful.
