Ahead of SEC-Big 12 Challenge, A&M's Billy Kennedy remains optimistic about restarting basketball rivalry with Texas

There was a time in Billy Kennedy's tenure at Texas A&M when prepping for conference games meant getting ready to face Big 12 teams.

Kennedy's first season was in College Station was the Aggies' last before they made the jump to the SEC, where A&M is the lone university from the Lone Star State.

Ever since A&M switched conferences, talk of restarting the on-field football rivalry against Texas has permeated every offseason. But the two men's basketball programs from both teams on the same court has only occupied a sliver of that conversation.

Ahead of this weekend's SEC-Big 12 Challenge and A&M's game against Kansas State (15-4, 5-2 Big 12), Kennedy was optimistic that the Aggies (7-10, 1-5 SEC) and Longhorns can find a date in the future to play each other.
