HOOVER, Ala. — Texas A&M’s Trevor Knight already has been a legendary SEC quarterback: Knight, a graduate transfer from Oklahoma, mimicked Johnny Manziel on the scout team before the Sooners’ 2013 Cotton Bowl against the Aggies.
Knight also already has turned in a legendary performance against an SEC heavyweight. Knight carved up Alabama’s defense in the 2014 Sugar Bowl as a redshirt freshman, throwing for 348 yards and four touchdowns in an upset of the Tide. He did what few college players have ever done – made a Nick Saban-coached defense look bad.
After being beaten out by Baker Mayfield for the Sooners’ starting job in 2015, Knight decided to leave Norman with no hard feelings.
