Coach Billy Kennedy and Texas A&M have reached an agreement in principal on a new five-year deal, athletic director Scott Woodward announced Saturday.
Terms of the contract weren't immediately disclosed and are pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Woodward told SportsDay last month that a new deal would be in the works. Kennedy ranked among the lowest-paid coaches in the SEC at $1 million a season and had no financial guarantees from A&M beyond this season.
Kennedy is in his fifth and most successful season at A&M. The No. 17 Aggies will play No. 16 Kentucky in Sunday's SEC tournament championship game.
