2019 Cedar Hill Trinity Christian forward Tyreek Smith announced his commitment to Texas A&M Wednesday evening.
The local hoops standout is a four-star power forward prospect, according to 247 Sports. Smith (6-8, 205) is the No. 12 player in Texas and the No. 142 player nationally. Smith is A&M's third 2019 commit, joining South Garland's Chris Harris Jr. and Sahvir Wheeler of Houston Christian. The Aggies currently have the nation's No. 5 class for 2019.
Smith is originally from Baton Rouge and held an offer from his hometown team, LSU. Instead of heading back to play for the Tigers, however, Smith chose fellow SEC squad A&M.
