The internet went crazy a couple of weeks ago when everyone realized in-state rivals Texas and Texas A&M could meet up in the Texas Bowl, and fans of both sides desperately wanted to see this happen.
The Longhorns accepted a bid to play in the game, but A&M will play in the Liberty Bowl against West Virginia. Part of that had to do with the SEC not wanting to risk the Aggies’ perceived recruiting advantage over Texas due to them playing in the conference, but Twitter is not happy either way.
Texas and Texas A&M used to play their rivalry game every Thanksgiving when both were members of the Big 12, but haven’t played each other – and have no future plans to – since the Aggies went to the SEC.
Texas will now face Arkansas in the Texas Bowl.
