Ole Miss's offense came out swinging, scoring two touchdowns on their first three drives of the game. The Rebel defense absolutely dominated Texas A&M, shutting them out in the first half on their way to a 21-0 lead at the break.
The Aggies responded by scoring a touchdown on their first drive of the second half, but Ole Miss was able to put Texas A&M away in the fourth quarter and cruise to the easy win.
Turning Point: Down 14-0 early in the second quarter, the Aggies were driving trying to cut the lead in half when Cody Prewitt picked off Kenny Hill and ran it back 75 yards for a touchdown. It turned the game into a blowout and Texas A&M was never able to recover.
Key Stat: The Aggies don't run the ball a lot anyways, but they only managed 55 yards on the ground tonight. That just won't get it done. A&M's offense became so one-dimensional that Ole Miss' defensive line was able to pin their ears back and pressure the quarterback while dropping everyone else into coverage.
Ole Miss MVP: Bo Wallace has turned himself into a Heisman candidate and carried the Rebels' offense in this run, completing 13-18 passes for 178 yards and a touchdown while chipping in 50 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.
Texas A&M MVP: No one is getting this award. Kenny Hill played like an average Division I quarterback (which is really subpar for him), and everyone else had a minimal impact. Ole Miss was able to shut head coach Kevin Sumlin's offense completely down, and their offense shredded the Aggies' weak defense.
What’s Next? Ole Miss moves to 6-0 and will be tied with in-state rival Mississippi State atop the SEC West. The Rebels will probably move to No. 2 nationally, trailing only the Bulldogs, with a chance to improve their resume next weekend when they host Tennessee.
Texas A&M has now dropped two in a row and have fallen totally out of the national championship picture and the SEC West race, though they'll have a chance to change all of that against Alabama in Tuscaloosa next Saturday.
