Yesterday at the Rio Olympics, Monica Puig became the first Puerto Rican to win the gold medal for her country, beating the reigning Australian Open champion Angelique Kerber, reigning Roland Garros champion Garbine Muguruza and two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova on the way. The spectacular and unexpected achievement gave goosebumps to the 22-year-old's nation, tennis fans worldwide, as well as to her WTA colleagues of all calibers.
