WTA schedule provisioned to resume on August 3rd in Palermo

Just as tennis media are consumed by the breaking news that the US Open will take place in September despite the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, together with the Western & Southern Open preceding it at the same venue, the WTA announces an updated 2020 provisional calendar which sets forth the resumption of women’s tennis starting August 3rd at the 31° Palermo Ladies Open in Italy.

The WTA anticipates that events will be held without spectators and tournament staff will be limited, but there will be TV coverage.

After the tournament in Palermo, we’ll have the Western & Southern Open, relocated from Cincinnati to the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York City this time only, followed by the US Open at the same venue.
