Wimbledon Players Who Are Mothers Welcome Change in Focus

WIMBLEDON, England — Of the 32 women who advanced to the third round of Wimbledon, Casey Dellacqua may have been the only one to spend time this week sleeping on the floor.

Dellacqua, a 30-year-old from Perth, Australia, took a turn lying next to the cot of her restless son, Blake, as he struggled to fall asleep on an uncharacteristically warm night. It was the night before Dellacqua’s crucial second-round match against No. 17-seeded Elina Svitolina, but Dellacqua wanted to give her partner, Amanda, a break.

“There’s always different ways of parenting, but for me I’m right there with Amanda in whatever way,” Dellacqua said.
